TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) has made three demands to the government on significant issues that can significantly affect the work climate of a company.
First, Apindo asked the government and the Remuneration Board to include productivity as a parameter in calculating minimum wage. Second, Apindo requested the government to determine the minimum wage once every three years to avoid annual commotion. Third, Apindo urged the government to verify all labor unions in Indonesia.
Apindo Chairman Franky Sibarani stated that currently, the productivity level of Indonesian workers is still ranked at number six out of ten ASEAN nations. Meanwhile, based on the working hours in the United States, Indonesia also ranked at number six out of ten ASEAN nations.
"This reveals that there are no improvements in Indonesian worker productivity. As a result, Indonesian products cannot compete well," he said.
