Index Continues to Rise

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Optimism towards economic growth in China supported by the improvement of the Chinese economy data, as quoted yesterday, has revived the regional and local stock markets.The Dow Jones Futures index which rose 76 points as of 17.01 Western Indonesia Time, indicated that the stock exchange in Wall Street will move positively. The condition can trigger yet another increase in the composite stock price index (IHSG).Helen, an analyst from the PT Finan Corfindo Nusa, said that if the economic data from the United States released early on Wednesday turns out positive and Wall Street is getting stronger, the index might rise.In addition, after the heavy corrections last week, there is a chance the index will return to its closing the level of 3,800, she said.Helen predicts that todays index will float within the range of 3,750-3,790 with a tendency to strengthen.There are currently no domestic factors which could negatively impact the index movement. For now, the index will be heavily influenced by external factors.During yesterdays trading, the index gained 24.515 points (0.65 percent) to the level of 3,773.273.Some of the shares which support the index movement are: Astra International (ASII) with a Rp950 gain at Rp57,350; Gudang Garam (GGRM) with a Rp1,700 gain at Rp45,450; Unilever (UNVR) with a Rp200 gain at Rp14,800; Bank BRI (BBRI) with a Rp50 gain at Rp6,300; and Bank Mandiri (BMRI) with a Rp50 gain at Rp6,950.VIVA B.
