Prabowo Taps Agus Harimurti as High-Speed Rail Committee Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has appointed the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), as the Chair of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Committee.
This decision is outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 29 of 2026, the second amendment to Presidential Regulation No. 107 of 2015 concerning the Acceleration of the Implementation of Infrastructure and Facilities for the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail.
"For the sake of the effectiveness of the tasks of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Committee, it is necessary to make adjustments to the membership composition," as cited from point a of the Presidential Regulation that was established on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
AHY replaces Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who previously served as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment in the Indonesia Onward Cabinet during former President Joko Widodo's administration.
The regulation also specifies several new members of the Committee under the Red and White Cabinet, including the sovereign wealth fund Danantara.
According to Article 3A of the regulation, the committee's appointed deputy chair is Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto. The Committee members consist of Foreign Minister Sugiono; Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa; Minister of Investment and Downstream, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, Nusron Wahid; Head of the SOEs Organizing Agency, Dony Oskaria; and Head of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
The committee is tasked with formulating the measures necessary to tackle the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail cost overrun, including changes in joint venture ownership, as well as loan adjustments.
The committee must also determine the form of government support to tackle cost overruns, including injecting capital into the consortium of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project, as well as providing guarantee if necessary to cover capital requirements for the high-speed train project.
"This Presidential Regulation shall enter into force on the date of its promulgation," the regulation read.
