TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Minister of Investment and Head of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Rosan Roeslani, claimed that the contribution of investment to economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 has been very good. "Alhamdulillah, the 5.61 percent economic growth indicates that our economy is running very well, very positively," said Rosan after a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, as quoted from Antara.

Rosan even stated that the investment's contribution has exceeded the previous trend, which generally ranged from 28 to 29 percent. "From my perspective, in terms of investment, it contributes 32 percent of the total 5.61 percent growth, or about 1.8 percent," he said.

He explained that the increased contribution of investment has become one of the factors driving the national economic performance to remain strong. So far, investment has generally contributed less than 30 percent to economic growth.

"So far, investment has contributed approximately 28 to 29 percent. Alhamdulillah, this (increase) to 32 percent," he said.

The achievement reflects the investment activity that surpasses the target for that period. According to Rosan, this strong investment performance has a positive impact on various economic sectors.

He hopes that greater investment will maintain economic growth in the future. The government will continue to encourage a conducive investment climate amid global dynamics. In addition, Rosan stated that the increased investment also strengthens the confidence of business actors in the domestic economic conditions.

Rosan's statement responds to the announcement from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) regarding 5.61 percent year-on-year economic growth in the first quarter of 2026. Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that the growth was supported by strong domestic economic activity.

In terms of value, Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp3,447.7 trillion at constant prices and Rp6,187.2 trillion at current prices.
