TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) records over Rp3,050 trillion in assets for the Islamic financial industry as of August 2025, an 11.3 percent hike compared to the same period last year. This was confirmed by Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Executive Head of the Supervision of Financial Business Behavior, Education, and Consumer Protection at OJK.

"Of course, this is supported by the stable performance of our financial sector, including banking, capital markets, insurance, financing, and everything else," she said while addressing the Financial Expo and Sharia Seminar (EKSiS) at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Friderica detailed that the total assets of the Islamic financial industry were supported by Rp975.9 trillion from banking, Rp1,896.2 trillion from the capital market, and Rp178.7 trillion from the non-banking financial industry.

When compared to the same period last year, the total assets reached Rp2,884 trillion for the Islamic financial industry. This came from Rp980.3 trillion from banking, Rp1,733.5 trillion from the capital market, and Rp170.3 trillion from the non-banking financial industry.

Friderica stated that all sectors continue to support the growth of Islamic finance within the country. On the other hand, the literacy rate for national finance is only 66 percent, while for Islamic finance, it is 43 percent.

"This means that, out of 100 people we asked, 66 of them already understand Islamic financial products. But the actual users are still very few," she said.

According to Friderica, OJK is pushing for increased financial inclusivity among the public, by accessing a wide range of banking services and other financial services. She referred to a study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which suggests that the higher the literacy and inclusion rate of the public in a country, the higher its level of welfare.

One of the measures taken is to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in order to simultaneously increase literacy and welfare. OJK is also tasked with consumer and public protection, through literacy education and complaint-handling.
