Manchester United Legend Beckham is Now 'Sir David Beckham'

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former English footballer David Beckham has officially received the title of "Sir" from the United Kingdom, and is now known as Sir David Beckham.

According to ESPN, the title was awarded on Saturday, June 15, 2025, as part of King Charles' 2025 birthday honors list.

The honor was granted in recognition of Beckham’s significant contributions to both sports and charitable work.

"Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honor," said David Beckham after receiving the award.

“It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I’m immensely proud and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.”

Beckham has also served as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005, dedicating himself to promoting the rights and welfare of children around the world. He is now the fourth Manchester United figure to be knighted, following Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Matt Busby, and Sir Alex Ferguson.
