Indonesia's e-SIM Guide: Compatible Devices and How to Check Yours

April 15, 2025 | 02:56 pm

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - e-SIM or electronic SIM has many benefits, such as preventing fraud, making it easier to switch operators, temporarily changing to another operator, and using fewer mobile devices. However, not all types of phones have e-SIM services.

According to information on Telkomsel’s website, here’s how to check whether your phone is compatible with e-SIM services:

iPhone

  1. Open the 'Settings' menu on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and select 'Cellular'.
  3. Select 'Add Mobile Data Plan'.
  4. If the option to scan the QR code appears, it means your iPhone supports e-SIM. If not, it means your device does not support e-SIM.

Android

  1. Open the 'Settings' menu.
  2. Select 'Connections'.
  3. Click on 'SIM Card Manager'.
  4. If there is an 'Add eSIM' option, it means your Android phone already supports e-SIM. If not, it means your device does not support e-SIM.
