TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Special Crimes Investigation Team of the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office has named another suspect in a case of alleged corruption in the construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) infrastructure in the province. Assistant for Special Crimes (Aspidsus) Umaryadi said the suspect is the president director of PT Perenjana Djaja, Bambang Hariadi Wikanta (BHW).
"We have previously questioned BHW as a witness. However, based on the development of the investigation, we found sufficient evidence that he was also involved in this crime," Umaryadi said at the Prosecutor's Office on Thursday evening, September 26.
Umaryadi said PT Perenjana Djaja is a planning consultant in the LRT construction project. The Prosecutor's Office, he said, found a number of markups and fictitious activities that had been planned from the outset.
"Suspect BHW also channeled funds to the three suspects named in the previous release, which are suspected to have come from activities that were marked up," Umaryadi said.
Prosecutors are charging BHW with corruption. Umaryadi said BHW is currently in custody. "We will detain him for the next 20 (twenty) days at the Palembang Class I Prison from September 26 to October 15, 2024."
In the same case, the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office has named three leaders of PT Waskita Karya as suspects. They are T, the head of the company's Division II; IJH, the head of Construction Division II; and SAP, the head of Construction Division III.
Vanny Yulia Eka Sari, head of the Legal Information Section of the Prosecutor's Office, said the three are suspected of corruption and gratification totaling Rp25.6 billion in the planning of the LRT construction with the route from Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II Airport Station to the Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) Stadium.
"The three were known to have made markups in the design work contract. "We also found transfers of funds, both in the form of bribes and gratuities, to several parties amounting to Rp 25.6 billion," Vanny said on Friday, September 20.
