TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia is exploring the market potential of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), proven by its attendance at the Indonesia-Latic America and the Caribbean (INA-LAC) Business Forum in Lima, Peru’s capital, on September 11-13, 2024.

The Director General of American and European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi, said the INA-LAC Business Forum emphasizes the Indonesian Government’s commitment to promoting trade and investment agreements, strengthening business networks, and offering mutually beneficial business collaboration with LAC countries.

Umar Hadi stressed that the INA-LAC Business Forum in Peru is the first Indonesian large-scale comprehensive business mission in the LAC region. The ministry official conveyed the statement in front of 350 forum attendants, including Peru’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Mera Gomes, the Ambassadors of friendly countries, business actors including the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), civil society, academicians, and cultural experts from Indonesia, Peru, and LAC.

INA-LAC Business Forum raises the theme of “Fostering Growth, Strengthening Society,” to focus on answering the obstacle of distance between the two regions. The forum facilitates various business meetings, promotions of Indonesia and LAC countries’ featured products, and trade negotiations between Indonesian business executives and their LAC partners.

At least 46 medium to large companies and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participate in the INA-LAC Business Forum Exhibition. These companies include Gadjah Tunggal, Sanbe Farma, Mayora, Indofood, Toyota Indonesia, Sido Muncul, Eratani, Haloni Jane, Skala Group, Oxytane dan Nakula Jewelry.

Some state-owned enterprises (SOEs) including Pertamina, PLN Indonesia Power, and three Indonesian universities (ITS, IPB, and Binus) also attended the forum. Indonesian entrepreneurs will meet with the representatives of around 65 corporations and potential partners from Peru and LAC countries, such as Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Suriname, and Venezuela.

INA-LAC Business Forum in Peru also manifests Indonesia’s commitment and innovative measures to expand and diversify exports to the region, considering Latin America and the Caribbean are crucial partners for Indonesia.
