TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will head to North Sumatra for a working visit today, Tuesday, September 10, 2024. “Today, the President’s activities are packed with a working visit in North Sumatra,” said the Deputy of Press and Media Protocol at the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, on Tuesday.
After his working visit to the province, Jokowi will return to Jakarta in the evening. Yusuf said the president will be present at Gelora Bung Karno or GBK Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta.
“(President Jokowi) will head to GBK Stadium to support and encourage the national team (of football),” Yusuf said.
Previously, Jokowi is said to spend the rest of his term in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), from September 10 to October 19. When asked about when exactly Jokowi will start working from the new capital, Yusuf did not provide a clear answer.
The Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, previously mentioned that President Jokowi will work from IKN for 40 days until the end of his term.
Based on that information, Jokowi will be in the new capital up to the inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka on October 20.
Jokowi’s office relocation to IKN has been conveyed multiple times. At the end of July, Jokowi spent 2 days in Nusantara. After, Jokowi opted for a longer stay in August ahead of the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration on August 17.
