270 Personnel Deployed to Secure Pope Francis' Arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 270 personnel were deployed to ensure security and maintain order during the arrival of Pope Francis at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
M. Holik Muardi, Senior Manager of Branch Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, stated that these personnel represented various agencies, including Soekarno-Hatta Airport Aviation Security, the military, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres), Tangerang Military Command (Kodim 0506 Tangerang), and other relevant security forces.
“This collaborative effort aims to guarantee the seamless execution of all security aspects, both on land and in the air, in accordance with established protocols,” Holik said on Monday, September 2, 2024.
To ensure smooth operations, Holik explained that Soekarno-Hatta Airport had taken measures to minimize disruptions to daily operational activities during the state visit. “All preparations have been adjusted to strike a balance between state reception and services to general passengers,” he said.
Holik stated that Pope Francis would be welcomed with the highest level of service at the VIP Building of Terminal 3, which had been specially prepared to ensure his comfort and safety. He emphasized that the VIP Building, serving as the welcoming location, had enhanced its service quality to meet international standards.
“Furthermore, the parking stand area designated for state aircraft has been ensured to be secure, with top-notch technical support and infrastructure,” he added.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport also verified that all facilities and services utilized during the visit would function optimally. “From the preparation of the arrival route, security procedures, to VIP services, all aspects have undergone rigorous checks and trials to guarantee the successful execution of this state event,” Holik concluded.
