Jokowi Taps Angga Raka Prabowo as Deputy Minister of Communication and Information

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi appointed Angga Raka Prabowo, a Gerindra Party politician, as the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo). Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi confirmed this appointment to Tempo.
“Angga Raka Prabowo will serve as the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information,” Budi Arie said via a text message on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Budi Arie explained that Angga Raka Prabowo's appointment is due to the Ministry of Communication and Information's heavy workload. Several critical tasks need to be completed within a short timeframe, including developing derivative regulations and institutions for the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law; accelerating the eradication of online gambling; improving national data architecture and governance; and utilizing Artificial Intelligence for public services.
Angga Raka has been a member of the Gerindra Party since 2008 and currently serves as its Deputy Secretary General.
The Presidential Palace has confirmed that President Joko Jokowi Widodo will conduct a cabinet reshuffle on Monday morning, August 19. Coordinator of the President's Special Staff Ari Dwipayana declined to disclose the names of those who will be inaugurated at the State Palace at 9:30 a.m.
However, Ari mentioned a few ministers and agency heads who will be inaugurated, namely Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Minister of Investment, an additional Deputy Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo), Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Head of the Presidential Communications Office, and Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
