TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, supports PT Pertamina's utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to regulate subsidized fuel consumption. Luhut claims that AI-based management of subsidized fuel consumption can save around Rp40-50 trillion of the state budget.
"We can use the budget for other things," said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Luhut believed that AI could help Pertamina distribute the subsidized fuel fairly and avoid misdirect subsidies. Additionally, the technology could make the state budget more efficient and increase potential state revenue.
He gave an example of the e-Catalog innovation that saved the country Rp3 thousand trillion through efficient state spending. The Mineral and Caol Information System or Simbara also successfully boosts non-tax state spending.
"The use of technology truly raises our efficiency," said Luhut.
Previously, Pertamina CEO Nicke Widyawati said her company has used artificial intelligence to manage the oil and gas business by processing and analyzing around 15 million subsidized fuel transactions per day. "So that decision-making can be done accurately," said Nicke.
According to Senior Vice President of Integrated Enterprise Data and Command Center (IEDCC) Pertamina, Ignatius Sigit Pratopo, the application of AI exception signals in processing transaction data from the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) system has significantly reduced operating costs. "As well as reducing deviations in the distribution of subsidized fuel," said Sigit.
