Jokowi Mandates Acceleration of ASN Transfer to IKN

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi mandated the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas to finalize the preparation of transferring Civil State Apparatus or ASN to the Nusantara capital city or IKN in East Kalimantan.

After attending a limited meeting on Jakarta specialty status on Friday, Azwar said that he has been given 15 days to coordinate short-term, medium-term, and long-term scenarios of ASN transfer.

Azwar explained that the government will first calculate all the required personnel for each ministry, albeit refraining from going further into the details.

During the limited meeting with President Jokowi, Azwar has been asked to prepare for the transfer by recruiting 690,000 fresh graduate ASNs. "The recruitment will become a momentum, not only to welcome IKN but also anticipating the Golden Indonesia Era," he said.

The IKN Authority is targeting the operation of several governmental offices this June. President Jokowi is optimistic that the ceremony celebrating Indonesia's 79th Independence Day Anniversary will be held in IKN next August.

The government is planning to transfer 3,245 ASN to IKN in its first phase from July to November this year. Those include ASNs from 37 ministries and governmental agencies. The Indonesian government has prepared 1,740 residences to house the ASNs.
