TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK will invite the three running presidential pairs on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The candidates will speak during the Strengthening Anti-Corruption Program for Organizers with Integrity (PAKU Integritas).
"Each pair will express their commitment for corruption eradication which will end with signing an integrity pact. Based on the information we obtain, those we invited have confirmed their attendance," said KPK press head Ali Fikri on Tuesday.
According to Ali, the program has the purpose to build mutual commitment between all presidential candidates. "General Elections Commission and General Elections Supervisory Agency will also come. KPK also has the agenda to safeguard the ongoing democratic process (of election)," he said.
Meanwhile, the deputy of education and citizen role of KPK Wawan Wardiana said that KPO has invited the Liaison Officer of each running pair for a technical meeting at KPK's C1 Building on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
"The purpose [of technical meeting] is to provide knowledge on corruption eradication, ratification of UNCAC that has not been implemented in Indonesia, including Jakarta principle," Wawan said on Tuesday.
KPK will ask the presidential candidates their commitment and planned program for corruption eradication. When asked if there is a debate during the event, Wawan said "no, there won't be. The debate is at KPU. This is a PAKU Integritas program for the running presidential pairs. We will give them time to speak about their corruption eradication commitment," he said.
The issue of corruption was first brought by presidential candidates Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto earlier during the first presidential debate on December 12, 2023.
