TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity giant PT PLN received green financing amounting to Rp12 trillion from several national financial institutions for the energy transition program. This was marked by the signing of an agreement with state and private lenders, viz. Bank Mandiri, BNI, BCA, and BSI, on Friday, Dec. 29. The firm also received a bilateral credit facility from state-owned infrastructure financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI).
“The good cooperation between PLN and national financial institutions is proof of unity and synergy with all components in Indonesia to accelerate the energy transition,” PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, said in his official statement on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
He claimed that as a key player in the country’s energy transition project, PLN is committed to accelerating the development of green energy with the support of all parties. “PLN has taken various strategic steps to encourage Indonesia to become a green country,” Darmawan added.
Sinthya Roesly, PLN Finance Director, explained that her side needed a variety of financing cooperation to execute the project. This green loan of Rp12 trillion, she added, reflected the national financial institution's trust in the company to implement strategic programs.
“One of the keys to achieving the common goal of NZE (net zero emissions) by 2060 is low-cost loans, as realized in today's collaboration,” Sinthya said, adding that the company’s investment needs are likely to remain high in the future.
