TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Home Affairs Ministry asked the Jakarta government to allocate some funds in the 2024 Regional Budget to support the relocation of Indonesia's capital from Jakarta to the state capital of Nusantara or IKN in East Kalimantan. This budget is aimed at preparing for the financial changes that will accompany the transfer of the country's capital.
Michael Rolandi Cesnanta Brata, the head of the Jakarta Financial Management Agency (BPKD), revealed this on Thursday, December 28, 2023. According to him, the budget allocation in the 2024 APBD was in line with Law No. 3 of 2022 on the National Capital, as amended by the Law No. 21 of 2023.
Michael confirmed that the city administration is currently finalizing the 2024 APBD Regulation and Gubernatorial Regulation after being evaluated by the Ministry of Home Affairs. “We are currently finalizing the 2024 APBD Regional Regulation and its elaboration on the Gubernatorial Regulation,” he told Tempo via WhatsApp message.
According to him, each regional organization or agency (OPD) in Jakarta has prepared budget allocations to anticipate funding needs when the capital city moves and Jakarta changes its status to a special region called DKJ.
However, Michael did not specify the names of the institutions and the size of their respective budget allocations. “Each OPD has prepared it while planning the budget for Jakarta to be a global city,” he said.
