TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Central Jakarta's General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Christian Nelson Pangkey stated that the agency will soon summon vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Bawaslu will ask Gibran to clarify his action to distribute milk during a car free day in the Sudirman-Thamrin areas on Dec. 3, 2023.
"For Gibran, we will likely summon him on Saturday, Dec. 23, or Dec. 28-29," Christian said in a brief text message on Tuesday.
Central Jakarta's Bawaslu is currently investigating the alleged breach of campaign regulation since political activity and campaigns are not permitted during car-free days.
The date to summon Gibran, he explained, was picked to avoid overlaps with the vice presidential debate schedule on Friday, Dec. 22.
However, Christian said Bawaslu is still discussing the appropriate time to summon the son of President Joko Widodo.
"We are still discussing the date, but it will certainly be during this December," he concluded.
