Jokowi to Inaugurate Freeport's Smelter in East Java Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi headed to East Java today, Thursday, Dec. 14 in a working visit to inaugurate PT Freeport's smelter.
Jokowi departed from Adi Soemarmo Air Force Base in Boyolali, Central Java on a presidential aircraft at 07:10 a.m. local time.
"In the afternoon, President Jokowi will head to Gresik Regency. There, the president is scheduled to inaugurate the expansion of PT Smelting," wrote the Presidential Press Bureau.
PT Smelting is PT Freeport Indonesia's first copper smelter built in 1996 with a Japanese consortium and operated by Mitsubishi.
In East Java, Jokowi will also inaugurate several public facilities. Jokowi will head to Batu City to inaugurate Induk Among Tani Market in the morning after arriving at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang Regency.
After, Jokowi will head to Malang City to inaugurate three Final Processing Sites or TPA at the same time, namely TPA Supit Urang in Malang City, TPA Jabon in Sidoarjo Regency, and TPA Bandarjowo in Jombang Regency.
Jokowi will also visit vocational high schools in Malang to inspect their learning processes and the school infrastructure.
The president will deliver financial assistance for several beneficiaries of the El Nino assistance program at the Malang Postal Office and food aid from the governmental rice reserve at Gadang Bulog Warehouse.
