TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police (Polri) Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, is analyzing the psyche of a father, identified as the initial 'P' (41), who allegedly killed his four biological children in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

"P is undergoing psychiatric observation for 14 days, and (the results) will be handed over to investigators later," head of the hospital, Brigadier General Hariyanto, told reporters on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Hariyanto said psychiatric observation is carried out to determine the psychological status of litigants.

However, he continued, the examination on P is not like treating him, but to determine his mental status.

"As a rule, psychiatrists have 14 days to observe and determine his mental status," he explained.

The observation results will be in the form of a statement from the psychiatrists to explain P's mental condition to the authorities.

P allegedly killed his four children in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Sunday (December 3).

The South Jakarta Police made P a suspect, based on Article 338 jo 340 of the Criminal Code concerning Premeditated Murder and the Child Protection Law.

Earlier, the police said that it was still investigating P's motive in murdering his children.

"We are still investigating it," adjunct senior commissioner Bintoro said.

Bintoro informed that the bodies of the four children that were allegedly killed by their biological father were buried at the Perigi Bedahan Cemetery in Sawangan, Depok, West Java.

He explained, his side had coordinated with the victims' uncle regarding the funeral.

The police promised to thoroughly investigate this case.

Meanwhile, Hariyanto stated that the autopsies of the four children's bodies had been completed.

"The autopsies of the bodies have been completed, and we are waiting for the results of samples sent by investigators to RSCM (Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital) and the police's Forensic Laboratory Center," Hariyanto said.
