Indonesia's Rp31.9bn Aid to Palestine Arrives in Egypt

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government's aid to Palestine of Rp31.9 billion of medicine and medical equipment arrived in Egypt through the El-Arish Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at around 10:50 a.m. local time. El-Erish airport is located 324 kilometers away from Cairo, functioning as the main gateway to reach the borders of Gaza. The aid was transported using Airbus 200-900 Neo aircraft owned by Lion Air, with flight number JT6001.
"There is currently an unloading process of the humanitarian aid and it is expected to finish in the next two hours," the Director of Investment and Fund Distribution of the Indonesian Agency for International Development (LDKPI) Iwan Nur Hidayat said in a written statement on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023.
The process of aid distribution was supervised and observed by the Head of Fund Disbursement at Indonesian AID Indro Bawono. The aid will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent at El-Arish.
The organization will coordinate the distribution of humanitarian aid to UNRWA, the UN agency responsible for the Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip.
The humanitarian aid distributed by the Indonesian government consisted of medicines and medical equipment including hospital sundries. The aid was distributed through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at around 05:00 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Through this mission, Indonesia is committed to helping manage the health crisis that is currently happening in the Gaza Strip.
