TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi inspected the location set for the development of the VVIP Airport in IKN on Tuesday in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Today, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will lead the groundbreaking event for several projects in IKN, including the VVIP Airport.
The location for VVIP Airport in Nusantara State Capital or IKN is located 23 kilometers away from point zero of IKN. Minister Budi also inspected the location by air via a helicopter.
The development will be conducted in line with IKN's grand concept of nature-oriented and environmentally friendly. The airport will have a mixture of local wisdom and modern elements, designed by several architects. The airport is intended to support connectivity in the state capital and facilitate governmental interest.
In addition to the VVIP Airport location, Budi Karya also inspected the location of a supporting harbor in IKN.
Meanwhile, VVIP Airport is one of the 10 projects set for groundbreaking today. IKN Authority Head Bambang Susantono explained that the budget for these projects comes from the State Budget and private investments.
"Among them are a hospital, a mall integrated with a hotel and an apartment, several governmental offices, orangutan conservation, and domestic as well as international schools," he said in a written statement quoted on Wednesday.
The estimated required budget for these developments is Rp12.5 trillion out of the total Rp23 trillion of overall development ongoing in IKN. According to Bambang, this shows how IKN bolsters economic growth.
