KPU Declares Running Presidential Candidates Pass Medical Check Up

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission (KPU) declared the three running presidential candidates for the 2024 general elections passed their medical check-up on Friday, October 27, 2023.
KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari mentioned that all candidates will be able to do their responsibilities as president and vice president if elected. Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka are declared clear from drug abuse.
"Based on the examination process of the medical check-up, they are declared clear to carry out their duty as president and vice president, and clear from drugs abuse," he said during a press conference in the KPU Building in Jakarta today.
Hasyim, however, did not provide the details regarding the medical conditions of each running mate.
The results of the medical check-up were handed directly from the Chair of Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Lieutenant General Budi Sulistya to the Chair of KPU, witnessed by the representative of each running candidate's coalition.
"Generally, each of the running candidates does not possess any problems with their health, whether physical or mental," Budi said.
Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar was the first pair to conduct their medical check-up on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The day after, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md also conducted their medical check-up at RSPAD. Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka conducted theirs on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
The 2024 general elections are set to run on February 14, 2024.
