TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated that the government shall bolster export and investment to maintain economic growth, especially since Indonesia will enter the political year soon.
"The key is to maintain the upward trend of export, and it's not easy," he said during BNI Investor Daily Summit 2023 in Jakarta today, Tuesday, October 24.
Jokowi also mentioned that investment must be maintained since Indonesia's economic growth is still based on the consumption sector, whether from the government or private entities.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the escalating situation in Palestine and Israel could affect the state of global economic uncertainty.
"The global economic slowdown and the various risks of global uncertainty will potentially increase the risk for Indonesia to reach its economic growth target in the fourth quarter of 2023 and in 2024," he said on Saturday in a written statement.
The increasing global risk will also potentially affect Indonesia's economic growth in 2024, previously targeted to reach 5.2 percent. According to Airlangga, it would require up to Rp6,900 trillion of investment from various economic actors to reach the target.
Meanwhile, to reach an economic growth target of around 5.3 percent y-o-y in 2024, Airlangga estimated the investment requirement to reach Rp6,189.10 with 84.7 percent investment from the public, 9.7 percent from the government, and the rest from state-owned-enterprises.
