TEMPO.CO, Majalengka - Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, confirmed that Kertajati Airport will be ready for full operation by the end of this month. He made the statement after a meeting with regional heads on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
“We came here to ensure the readiness of Kertajati Airport before it becomes fully operational at the end of this month,” Bey said.
Based on the supervision, he said the entire airport infrastructure is confirmed to be ready to serve the transfer of commercial flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport.
He said the feeder bus Damri will be available to serve people from Bandung to Kertajati Airport. The trip from Bandung to Majalengka via the Cisumdawu Toll Road only takes approximately 1.5 hours.
“The travel time is relatively shorter, and the fare is also cheaper than traveling from Bandung to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang,” Bey explained.
He added that the bus fare to Kertajati Airport is also Rp80,000, cheaper than going to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which reaches Rp180,000.
As Kertajati Airport will be fully operational starting October 28, Bey hoped it could become a momentum for the revival of the tourism sector in all regions of West Java.
Bey also said he could not force Bandung residents to fly from Kertajati Airport if the flight route is unavailable. “There was no coercion,” he said, adding that in terms of accessibility, Bandung residents will find it easier to fly from Kertajati Airport than from Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang.
