1. National Museum Caught Ablaze, Police Investigate Cause of Fire
Police are currently processing the crime scene to investigate the fire that ravaged the National Museum last Saturday evening. Chief of Central Jakarta Resort Police Chief Commissioner of Police Komaruddin stated that the police are uncertain about how long the investigation will take.
"I cannot confirm [how long], the team will know more about it," he said at the National Museum on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
For now, Komaruddin said, the police have probed fourteen witnesses, consisting of security officers and other museum employees.
2. Indonesia-China Agree on KCJB's Operation and Maintenance Consortium
General Manager Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa explained that the governments of Indonesia and China have agreed upon the operation and maintenance consortium (OMC) of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Train (KCJB). According to Eva, the operation of high-speed rail necessitated human resources with specific skills.
In relation to that, Indonesia and China agreed that the initial phase of KCJB's maintenance and operation will be conducted by the consortium from both countries' companies, namely China Railway Engineering Corporation and PT KAI. "Meanwhile, the budget for KCJB's OMC is agreed for no more than Rp1 trillion every year," Eva said in a brief text message on Friday, September 15, 2023.
3. Investment Minister: Rempang Residents Will be Given Their Rights
Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the investment in Rempang Island will benefit the public. The government also attempted to resolve the conflict with proper resolution.
"I ensured that this [investment] is intended for public prosperity, creating job opportunities, and increasing income," said Bahlil after leading a coordination meeting in Batam on Sunday, September 17, 2023, as quoted by Tempo from a written statement.
