TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vitamin E is beneficial to maintain the health of eyesight, reproduction, blood, brain, and skin. Citing Healthline, vitamin E can be found naturally in grains, nuts, vegetables, and some fruits.

Below are five benefits of consuming vitamin E:

1. Prevent free radical damage

The antioxidants contained in vitamin E are able to combat the free radicals in your body. Free radicals caused by radiation, environmental damage, and cigarette smoke could cause various levels of degradation in the body. Vitamin E could neutralize the free radicals by giving up some of its own electrons.

2. Protect the heart

The inflammatory nature of vitamin E is beneficial to reduce plaque in arteries, which will help maintain the health of your heart.

3. Maintain brain health

Vitamin E protects the nerves and boosts blood flow to the brain, which allows it to receive more oxygen and nutrition.

4. Maintain eyesight

Vitamin E protects the eye cells from free radicals and helps recover the retina, cornea, and uvea in your eyes. A 2015 study published in Public Health Nutrition explained the connection between consuming vitamin E with a decrease in cataract risks.

5. Protect the skin
