TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Military Police (Pomdam Jaya) named a member of the Presidential Security Unit (Paspampres) Private RM and two members of the Indonesian Military (TNI) as suspects in the alleged abduction and murder of Imam Masykur, a Bireun Aceh native living in Jakarta.
The Indonesian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Hamim Tohari assured that there would be no impunity or exemption from punishment for the Paspampres member Private RM, the TNI member of the Topography Directorate Private HS, and the TNI member of the Iskandar Muda Military Command Private J.
TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono had previously stressed that the Indonesian Military would not grant impunity to members violating the law. Yudo said that there was no impunity in the alleged bribery case involving the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) and the case of Major Dedi Hasibuan who raided the Medan Sector Police Post on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
“There is no impunity, no cover-up, none. I have said that we take stern action against soldiers who commit violations,” the TNI Commander said on August 7, 2023.
