TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Immigration Office prepared special facilities to support the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta. “Special facilities will be set up to ensure smooth immigration procedures for ASEAN Summit delegates amid the high traffic of international travelers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” the Immigration Office head Muhammad Tito Andrianto said on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
The special facilities, located at Terminal 3 and Commercial Important Person (CIP) Terminal I, include Mobile Unit Border Control Management (Mobile BCM) equipment specifically for Head of State/Ministry level delegations and special inspection counters at Terminal 3 International Arrivals.
“This equipment is necessary to support the screening of delegates in the midst of high regular passenger traffic,” Tito added.
Tito also said that the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office has experience in providing special facilities for each international event as the airport is the main and busiest gateway to Indonesia.
“Especially for the 43rd ASEAN Summit, Soekarno-Hatta Immigration is preparing immigration services duplicated from services at the G20 Summit in 2022,” he said.
Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, said that in light of the ASEAN Summit on September 5-7, his agency tightened immigration supervision to prevent the entry of foreigners whose potential to disrupt the international event in Jakarta.
