TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russia opened an electronic visa (e-visa) service for 55 countries including Indonesia on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. As quoted by Anadolu, the visa application process would take up to four days.
Foreigners may apply for the e-visa through the official electronic visa website or mobile application. A passport, health insurance, a passport photo, and a full-face photo are required for the visa application. However, invitation, hotel reservation data, and other documents confirming the purpose of the trip are not needed. Visa has to be applied for at least four days before the planned entry date to Russia. To enter Russia, foreigners are charged a US$52 fee.
The visa allows foreigners to enter Russia one time and stay for up to 16 days as guests, tourists, or participants in a science event, cultural event, socio-political event, economic event, or sports event.
The electronic visa is already available in 52 countries across Europe and Asia with a plan to expand to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. The visa will be valid for 60 days after application.
According to the Economy Ministry of Russia, with the launch of e-visa, the tourism flow in Russia could reach 10 million people at the end of 2023. Russia adopted the law for e-visa back in 2020 but was unable to implement it due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. In the autumn of 2022, President Vladimir Putin instructed his ministries to expand the e-visa project to countries outside of Russia's unfriendly countries list.
