TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated that the Indonesian government has prepared 34,000 hectares of land in the new capital city of IKN for the business sector. He made the statement in front of Chinese entrepreneurs in Chengdu, China on Thursday, July 27, 2028.
“We have prepared 34,000 hectares of land,” he said in a meeting with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in China (INACHAM) and a number of businessmen at the Shangri-La Hotel, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
Jokowi explained that the land is prepared for IKN investors in the property, health, education, and infrastructure sectors. This year, the development of the IKN project will be focused on building health, education, and data center facilities.
Indonesia, he added, is committed to keeping investment stable and running well. Thus, he asked entrepreneurs not to hesitate to convey if they encounter problems related to investment in the country.
On a different occasion, Indonesian Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction progress of the basic infrastructure for IKN phase 1 had reached 36 percent, and that was according to the plan.
“We hope that by the end of December 2023, the venue for the ceremony [of Indonesian Independence Day] will be completed, while the State Palace and the Presidential Office will be completed in July 2024. So Inshallah (by God's wiling), the President can hold the ceremony for August 17, 2024,” Basuki said in a written statement, on Friday, July 28, 2023.
