TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the China-based automaker Wuling would make an investment in West Java worth Rp2 trillion.
“[We have made a deal of] Rp2 trillion investment for the development of the Wuling electric car industry in West Java,” Ridwan said in his Instagram account, quoted by Tempo today, July 28, 2023.
The Governor, who is familiarly called Emil, secured the investment after visiting the Wuling Motor headquarters in Liu Zhou, Guangxi, China. Liu Zhou, he added, is a sister city to Bandung City and Guangxi Province is a sister province to West Java.
“The electric car population in Liu Zhou is close to 60 percent, the highest in the world. The city is clean and has low pollution,” he explained.
Emil did not elaborate on the Rp2 trillion investment. Yet, it was stated that the funds would be used to develop Wuling electric vehicles in West Java.
Ridwan Kamil's visit to China is one of the West Java Government's efforts to meet its investment realization target of Rp188.01 trillion this year which includes domestic investment (PMDN) and foreign direct investment (PMA).
