Jokowi's Meeting with Chinese CEO to Discuss Electric Cars

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his second official trip to China on July 27-28, 2023, Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo would meet with Chinese businessmen, discussing the development of electric cars.
“In the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) meeting later, we will discuss matters related to electric cars,” the President said at Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Thursday, July 27, 2023, before taking off to Chengdu.
Chinese businessmen who would meet with Jokowi are heads of companies that have invested and would invest in Indonesia, especially in the downstream industry, petrochemical, renewable energy, and health sectors.
Jokowi would also hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Among the topics to be discussed is the South China Sea. “I usually bring up the South China Sea issue when meeting with President Xi,” he said.
Besides fulfilling Xi’s invitation, Jokowi made the visit which coincides with the ten years of the Indonesia-China comprehensive strategic partnership. “Priority agendas that will be discussed with President Xi are investment, strategic projects of Indonesia and China, trade, health, as well as regional and global issues,” he said.
In Chengdu, Jokowi was also scheduled to attend the FISU World University Games to support the Indonesian contingent participating in the international tournament.
Jokowi was expected to return to Indonesia on Saturday, July 29. 2023. Accompanying the President during the China trip were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
