Indonesia Energy Ministry Sets Price Caps for Electric Car Charging

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) determined the price ceilings for the charging of electric cars in fast charging and ultrafast charging stations through the Decree of the ESDM Minister No.182.K/TL.04/MEM.S/2023.
The Decree stipulates that the government sets the maximum cost of charging battery-based vehicles using fast charging technology is Rp25,000 while using ultrafast charging technology at Rp57,000.
However, the charging cost does not include Value Added Tax (VAT) under prevailing laws and regulations on taxation.
The charging cost for electric vehicles has been regulated through Energy and Mineral Resources Minister’s Regulation No.1/2023.
