TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will inaugurate Ewer Airport in Asmat, Papua today, July 6, 2023. The visit to the country’s eastern province is a continuation of his state visits to Australia and Papua New Guinea since last Monday.
“President Joko Widodo is scheduled to depart for Asmat Regency, South Papua Province by boarding the ATR 72-600 aircraft from Sentani International Airport, Jayapura Regency. Upon arrival at Ewer Airport, the President will inspect and inaugurate the airport,” as read in a press release published by the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
After inaugurating the airport, the President will take off to Jayapura Regency and head to Keroom Regency to inspect the corn fields in the food estate area in Wambes of Mannem.
During his working visit to Papua, Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, and Indonesian Military Commander Admiral Yudo Margono.
