Indonesia's South Sulawesi, Malaysia Explore Educational Cooperation to Improve Human Resources

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's South Sulawesi Provincial Government received the Malaysian education attaché at the Governor's Office, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, to explore cooperation in improving human resources (HR).

Representing the governor, Head of the province's Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM) Muhammad Jufri expressed his appreciation for the attaché's visit in the field of HR's education.

"Representing the governor, we are grateful for this visit because it opens more opportunities for the people of South Sulawesi to get education and training in Malaysia, which can support the development of human resources here," Jufri remarked.

In line with South Sulawesi's focus on vocational development, the cooperation offered by the Malaysian Government can be an opportunity to build synergy between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"South Sulawesi is focusing on vocational development, and we can synergize there. We also propose opportunities for Malaysia's best universities to invite outstanding high school students (to study there)," he affirmed.

He said budget for the cooperation will be discussed further.

In addition to exploring opportunities for vocational training and high-achieving students to continue their studies at top universities in Malaysia, they also spoke about skill training for nurses and teachers.

"We talk about the possibility for teachers from South Sulawesi to get trained in Malaysia, especially in the field of special education, to become more professional teachers," he remarked.

He said the provincial government is willing to provide financial assistance for South Sulawesi students to achieve education at top Malaysian universities.

Meanwhile, education attaché from the Malaysian Embassy, Zulfadhli Bin Hamzah, thanked the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for receiving his team's visit.

"Our visit today aims to deepen relations with the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. The goal is to hold cooperation in the field of education between Malaysia and South Sulawesi," he remarked. Hamzah said his side was seeking possible cooperation in higher education, human resources, and vocational training.
