TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia won its first gold at ASEAN Para Games 2023 or APG 2023 from the men's doubles group of para-badminton on Saturday, June 3.
Tim putra Indonesia yang sempat tertinggal bisa bangkit dan mengalahkan Malaysia dengan skor 2-1 dalam laga final yang berlangsung di Badminton Hall Kawasan Stadion Nasional Morodok Techo, Phnom Phen, Kamboja.
The Indonesian men's team, which had been left behind, was eventually able to defeat Malaysia with a score of 2-1 in the final match which took place at the Badminton Hall of the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Phen, Cambodia.
In the final game, Indonesian first men's singles player Fredy Setiawan received fierce resistance from Malaysia's Mohamad Amin. Both tried to beat each other to get the point until it reached the third game which was won by Malaysia 19-21, 21-19, 21-18.
Indonesia was able to catch up through the men's doubles pair Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara / Hari Susanto who won over Muhamad Jaafar / Muhammad Anuar with a score of 21-12, 21-16.
At the second singles game, Dheva Anrimusthi managed to secure the first gold medal for Indonesia at APG 2023 after defeating Amyrul Yazid 21-13, 21-8.
Previously at the semifinal, Indonesia won 2-0 over Vietnam. Men's singles athlete Fredy Setiawan defeated Poloong Loc 21-5, 21-3.
Meanwhile, men's doubles Fredy Setiawan/Suryo Nugroho also won against Vietnam's Nguyen van Thuong/Pham Van Toi with scores of 21-18, 18-8.
Indonesia with 268 athletes will fight to get the target of 121 golds, 94 silvers, and 84 bronze medals at 12 sports in ASEAN Para Games 2023 Cambodia.
