TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourists planning to visit the tourism area of Mount Bromo in East Java will likely have to reschedule plans as the tourist site’s management will temporarily close the area to the public for the Yadnya Kasada festival from June 3 to June 5.
“Activities in the Mount Bromo tourism area will be closed entirely starting from June 3 at 18:00 WIB until June 5 at 18:00 WIB,” said the Head of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Hendro Widjanarko on Sunday, May 21.
Yadnya Kasada is a ceremony of offerings to Sang Hyang Widhi performed by the Tengger tribe. Every Kasada month on the 14th day of the Javanese calendar, an offering ceremony is held for Sang Hyang Widhi and the ancestors where people throw offerings, usually in the form of agricultural products, into the crater of Mount Bromo
Online and offline ticket sales into the tourism site will be halted during the celebration, Bromo management announced.
The closure will be carried out at four Mount Bromo entrance points, starting from Ngadisari Village, Sukapura District in Probolinggo, Wonokitri Village, Tosari District in Pasuruan, and from the Malang and Lumajang areas at the Jemplang entrance, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency.
