Labor Union Leaders, Ganjar Pranowo to Meet amid May Day
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of labor union confederation leaders are set to meet with PDIP politician Ganjar Pranowo – who was recently announced as the Party’s future presidential candidate – during the international labor day commemoration, or May Day.
Andi Gani Nena Wea, the president of the Indonesian Trade Unions Confederation (KSPSI), said that this meeting would be used for labor union representatives to discuss a number of issues with the future presidential candidate.
“We surely will discuss the future when Ganjar is elected,” said Andi in a text message to Tempo on Monday, May 1, 2023.
According to Andi, the meeting with Ganjar will be held at the Central Java Government Representative Headquarters located in South Jakarta at 15.30 WIB. The meeting, Andi said, would be attended by a number of presidents of the labor confederations.
Andi has not yet explained the details of the discussion that will be held. However, he said that during the meeting there were no plans to sign a political contract between workers and Ganjar.
