TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Airport operator company PT Angkasa Pura II recorded that the number of passengers in 20 airports under the company's control for D-10 up to D-2 of Eid Al-Fitr had exceeded 2 million passengers.
Based on data from the company's Eid Al-Fitr 2023 transportation outpost, the number of passengers from D-10 to D-2 of Eid Al-Fitr reached up to 2.06 million passengers. The number constitutes a 26 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the number of flights is recorded at 15,840 flights.
Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the number of passengers showed a very positive trend.
"Moreover, the significant increase in the number of passengers can be managed well by Angkasa Pura II and its stakeholders, and the homecoming can proceed smoothly," Awaluddin said on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Awaluddin said that the high number of passengers is also related to the preparedness of Angkasa Pura II and other involves stakeholders in anticipating the 2023 Homecoming period.
"We have projected that the flight traffic during 2023 Eid Al-Fitr will be high and almost equal to 2019 Eid Al-Fitr when there was no pandemic. Accordingly, we prepared operation plans to ensure that we can accommodate an increase in demand," Awaluddin said.
Angkasa Pura II had taken efforts to guarantee the availability of flight slots to accommodate increasing demands and to support extra flights from airlines.
"The homecoming flow progresses smoothly in Angkasa Pura II airports. In addition to the company's preparedness, the smooth flow of homecoming can be attributed to the government's policy that added the joint leave days to breakdown the massive concentration of homecomers," Awaluddin concluded.
