Jokowi Signs Decree on Deputy Minister of Communication and Information

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi signed Presidential Regulation No.22/2023 concerning the Communication and Informatics Ministry on April 17. In this regulation, Jokowi provided a new position as Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology.
The stipulation on the addition of the Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics is contained in Chapter 1 Article 2 of the Presidential Decree.
"In leading the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the Minister can be assisted by Deputy Ministers according to the President's appointment," reads a copy of the Perpres that Tempo obtained on Thursday, April 20.
Under these rules, the deputy ministers are appointed and dismissed by the President. In addition, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics works under and is responsible to the Minister of Communication and Informatics.
The Deputy Minister has the task of assisting the Minister in leading the implementation of the duties of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Paragraph (4) of the article describes these tasks, which include, among others, assisting the Minister in formulating and/or implementing the policies of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
The enactment of Presidential Decree 22/2023 revokes Presidential Decree 54/2015 on the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, which is declared no longer valid.
