TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two suspected terrorists were killed in a shootout with the National Police's counterterrorism unit Densus 88 in Lampung. "There were six terrorists, and two died," said Densus 88 spokesman Commissioner Aswin Siregar to Tempo on Thursday, April 13.
The other four suspected terrorists, according to Aswin, are currently in the custody of the Densus 88 team.
Aswin said one counterterrorism unit member suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh during the shootout with the suspected terrorists on Wednesday, April 12. He said the police’s condition is currently stable.
"His condition is stable," said Aswin.
Moreover, Aswin said the terrorist group they raided is believed to be affiliated with the Jamaah Islamiah group in the Lampung area. "From the JI group," said Aswin.
Aswin did not reveal the identities of the suspected terrorists as it is being investigated. "We will release it after identification," said Aswin.
