Almost 60% Pelni Tickets Sold ahead of Mudik Season

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State shipping company PT Pelni (Persero) has sold 134,216 tickets for travel during the Eid homecoming or 'mudik' period. This volume is 59.91 percent of the projected 224,043 passengers between April 7 and 21.

Pelni's director of passenger transportation business, Yahya Kuncoro, said on Tuesday that the company is ready to serve the public during this year's Eid mudik season.

"We have 26 passenger ships and 22 voyagers ships ready to serve the community with all good facilities such as beds, three meals for those who are not fasting, for those who are fasting we provide sahoor and iftar as well," he said in Surabaya.

When visiting the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya on Monday, April 10, Kuncoro also ensured that passengers can take care of their well-being during the voyage, as the shops have clinics.

"We hope to serve passengers optimally so that passengers feel comfortable on the ship on their journey home," he said.

At the start of this year's mudik period, he said, Pelni passengers flow rose 25 percent from the previous year. "There are about 600,000 passengers this time, up 25 percent from last year in the same period," he said.

He advised travelers to book their tickets soon through official channels such as the Pelni Mobile App, the official PT Pelni portal and counters at 44 branch offices.

"Prospective passengers should immediately plan to purchase boat tickets for going home through PT Pelni's official channels," he said.
