Jakarta Police Warn People of Crime Potential during Ramadan at These Hours

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police appeals to the people of the capital city and the vicinities to be aware of potential crimes at certain hours during the month of Ramadan 1444 Hijri.
"The vulnerable time is usually when it turns dark, starting at the Taraweeh prayer time, as people tend to go to the mosque," said the Jakarta Metro Police chief of public relations Sr. Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 22, as reported by Antara. Crimes also potential to occur when the house is empty, he added.
The police said they have issued several measures to maintain public order and security.
"With the program dubbed ‘One Police One Neighborhood’, this will certainly provide a solution to the problem; how to protect the environment when there are potential crimes during the hours of Taraweeh prayers," he said.
Another vulnerable time is before the Suhoor, or pre-dawn meal, time. “At night is the time for people to rest before suhoor time. And people mostly go to bed early before suhoor. This is definitely also a vulnerable time,” said the police.
The Jakarta Metro Police have a special patrol at night during Ramadan. “In order to provide comfort for the people in carrying out worship in this holy month," he remarked.
