Metro Jaya Police Issues List of Banned Activities Amid Ramadan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police Inspector General Mohammad Fadli Imran has issued a special announcement that bans certain public activities during the Islamic Ramadan month which could disrupt public order.
Among them are vehicular convoys, the use of fireworks and firecrackers, and large public gatherings amid breaking fast and suhoor.
Moreover, the Metro Jaya Police will ban any activities that could potentially disturb public order such as illegal street racing and group clashes.
Pursuant to Law No.22 of 2009, specifically Articles 115 and 297, conducting illegal street racing may be subjected to punishment. Meanwhile, Group Clashes are listed as a crime under the Indonesian Criminal Code Articles 170, 351, 355, and 358.
Police stated that violators will be legally processed if found guilty of committing the aforementioned activities throughout the month of Ramadan as regulated under Criminal Code’s Articles 212, 216 (1), and 218.
