TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian safari park, Taman Safari, in Bogor, West Java, recorded a significant increase in tourist visits during the Christmas and New Year holidays compared to regular days.
General Manager of Bogor Safari Park, Emeraldo Parengkuan, said the average number of visitors during the year-end holiday was around 12,000 people per day. "Compared to last year, there may be an increase by 75 percent," he said, Monday, January 2, 2023.
The peak of tourist visits to Bogor Safari Park occurred on Friday, December 30, 2022. "It peaked on December 30, because maybe (the public) heard that there was a road closure on December 31. Information on potential extreme weather may also contribute to that," he added.
According to Aldo, the number of visitors is still relatively high, although not as many as at the end of the year. This might be due to many schools still being on holiday.
To entertain visitors, Taman Safari Indonesia added a schedule of shows, such as an animal parade which usually only takes place twice a day, and is now being added to three times a day. "We also have a parade and feed the penguins session where visitors can participate," said Aldo.
The Health Protocol Remains in Effect
Regarding the lifting of the Public Activity Restriction (PPKM) policy, Aldo said that his office still implements the health protocol. "We recommend that those who visit the park abide by the health protocol, the task force is also still active and remains to monitor any activity," he said.
Visitors are still encouraged to follow health protocols, such as wearing masks and not clustering around. According to Aldo, all Taman Safari Bogor employees will receive the fourth booster. "We are currently asking the local government," he said.
