TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II logged roughly 62 million air passenger traffic across 20 airports under its management across Indonesia in 2022. This statistic is a 100 percent spike compared to the previous year in 2021 which saw 31 million passengers going through its airport gates.
Regarding flights served, there were 510,000 take-offs and landings which was a 40 percent increase compared to the previous year’s 360,000 flights logged.
Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin on Sunday said the growth is boosted by the improving situation amidst the pandemic that has increased flight demands, the company's success in obtaining flight slots, and air carriers’ ability to provide fleets to meet the demands.
“These three aspects are interconnected and complete each other. The result is 62 million passenger traffic or a 100 percent increase in 20 airports managed by AP II cumulatively in 2022,” said Awaluddin on January 1.
The improved pandemic conditions have also made it possible for the company to organize Eid 2022 transportation, as well as 2022/2023 Christmas and New Year transportation, which is one of the driving factors for aviation demand.
Specifically for Soekarno-Hatta Airport amidst the Christmas and New Year’s transport during the December 19-31, 2022 period, the air passenger traffic reached 1.69 million people, up 65 percent, with aircraft traffic at 12,234 flights or went up 38 percent.
