TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Health Ministry detected through the PeduliLindungi COVID-19 platform that at least 247 people who tested positive for COVID-19 did not conduct a self-isolation and instead visited public places over the last two weeks.
“PeduliLindungi has been recording check-in data [of people with COVID-19] into public spaces since December 15, 2022,” said the Health Ministry’s Chief of Digital Transformation Office (DTO), Setiaji, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
During the period, the ministry logged the mobility of 11,129,600 people with green status as they have received a booster vaccination, 571,577 with yellow status or not having a booster shot yet, 90,693 with red status or not having a complete vaccination course, and 247 people with black status or tested positive for COVID-19.
The Health Ministry also monitored that public compliance with the use of the PeduliLindungi app as a health screening tool in public spaces started to drop. This was allegedly in line with the pandemic situation which was considered getting better and under control in the country.
The public locations, said Setiaji, include the shopping centers in Jakarta and Bekasi, KRL or Commuter Line, and restaurants during the 2022 Christmas holiday. Officers allowed visitors to enter without the PeduliLindungi screening, but body temperature checks only using a thermometer.
“We suggest managers of public spaces continue to use PeduliLindungi as a tool provided by the government to help control the transmission of COVID-19,” Setiaji underlined.
The COVID-19 app is developed by the government to help with COVID-19 testing, tracing, and treatment during the lingering pandemic. It also has features such as international vaccine certificates and test results.
“The implementation and the sanctions follow the rules of the public mobility restrictions (PPKM) and the Home Affairs Minister’s instructions enforced by each region,” said Setiaji.
