21 December 2022 09:25 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in a virtual press conference on Tuesday revealed that the government managed to collect Rp231.75 billion from the cryptocurrency tax from June up to December under the Electronic Systems Trade Operators (PPMSE).

“The crypto tax was effective from May the 1st this year but started to be filed as tax returns in June,” said the Finance Minister on December 20, Antaranews reported.

She explained that the implementation of this cryptocurrency tax is included in the government’s reforms on tax revenues, which will continue to be enacted in the future.

Apart from crypto taxes, there are also other forms of tax reform as the implementation of the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP), namely PMSE VAT whose realization has reached Rp 9.66 trillion from 134 PMSE.

Throughout the years, the VAT from the realization of PMSE amounted to Rp 730 billion from the July-December 2020 period, Rp 3.9 trillion in January-December 2021, and Rp 5.06 trillion in January-14 December 2022.

Apart from the cryptocurrency tax, the government has also implemented the financial technology service tax (fintech)-peer-to-peer (p2p) lending worth Rp209.8 billion covering PPh 23 on loan interest received by domestic taxpayers and permanent establishments, as well as Rp 88.15 billion PPh 25 on interest loans received by foreign taxpayers.
