TEMPO.CO, JakartaNational Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the police had arrested 24 suspected terrorists after the bombing attack at Bandung’s Astana Anyar Police Post. Of the figure, 6 people were arrested in West Java, 7 people in Central Java, and 11 people in North Sumatra.

“We have been carrying out security [measures] and continue developing the case,” Sigit said in a press conference after a meeting with President Joko Widodo on Christmas and New Year 2023 preparations at the Jakarta State Palace on Monday, December 19, 2022.

Listyo said that the police had certainly conducted a security mapping, especially its anti-terror squad Densus 88, “in cooperation with existing mass organizations and educated former terrorism convicts.”

As widely reported, a suicide bombing took place at Astana Anyar Police Post, Bandung, on December 7, 2022, killing three people. The bombing occurred seven days after calls for jihad on behalf of an ISI spokesman circulated in chat groups. The male bomber was found to be a former terror convict.

“The person was arrested because of the Cicendo bombing [on February 27, 2017, in Bandung] and was sentenced to 4 years [in prison]. In September or October 2021 he was released, of course, we will track the person’s activities,” said Listyo at the bombing site on December 7, 2022.
